Agege Pen Cinema area of Lagos is a busy part of the metropolis known for heavy vehicular and human traffic up till late in the night.
Moving across the railway line at Pen Cinema about 9pm Thursday, the busy area was almost totally deserted.
While our correspondent tried to inquire, the striking feature was a pool of clotted blood shielded with a wooden table.
As the time of filing this report at a little past 9pm, activities were gradually returning to the area as traders were summoning courage to start displaying their wares all over again.
A CD seller who pleaded anonymity opened up. “That blood is from a policeman. He was armed with gun and seemed drunk. We heard gun shots and everybody ran for safety. You can see life is just returning to this area. We later saw the coagulating blood,” he said.
Another passerby narrated what he saw.
“A trailer had hit a lady a few metres away and as there was pandemonium, later we heard gun shots and tear gas. We were later told somebody was stabbed and that is the result of the blood you are seeing there,” he narrated.
Meanwhile, traders were seen displaying their wares and returning to their businesses as commuters who apparently were ignorant of what had happened in the area were busy transacting their normal businesses and hurrying to their destinations.
