Physician and aspirant for the Bayelsa State House of Assembly seat for Ekeremor Constituency two, Dr. Felix Dimaro has formally submitted his expression of interest and nomination forms.
He described the collection and submission processes of the forms as effective and smooth, saying he obtained and completed the forms with all required nominations signed.
Speaking after the submission on Tuesday, the aspirant said his leadership would bring a distinct approach to representation, anchored on advocacy and service to the people.
He said: “My constituents will see something different, something unique about representation.
“I have the pedigree as a former student unionist. Advocacy for the welfare of the people has always been my path. I have consistently stood up for and defended my brothers, sisters, and colleagues, and I will bring all of those experiences to bear when I get there.”
The Assembly hopeful
cited his record of service both within and outside the university community, saying he was President of the National Union of Bayelsa State Students at his university chapter, President of the Igbenedion University Medical Students Association, and General Secretary of the Redeemed Christian Fellowship on campus.
Beyond the university, he said he played key role in restoring order in his community, Pereturogbene Federated Communities, during a crisis over a Community Development Committee election.
”Two electoral committees had been dissolved amid rising tensions before community leaders invited him to intervene.
“I was in the Federal University of Petroleum Resources when I was called upon,” he recounted. “I went to the community with 25 military personnel, restored order, conducted the election, and ensured the CDC was put in place. My people know me as an illustrious son of Pereturogbene Federated Communities.”
Dimaro added that his involvement in identifying constitutional gaps in the community led to his nomination as a member of the ongoing constitution review committee.
He also highlighted his national service during the Ebola outbreak in Liberia, when he volunteered as a medical doctor at the request of the Nigerian government.
Dimaro said the support he has received from the grassroots and prominent stakeholders has strengthened his resolve to contest, despite rumours of an automatic ticket being awarded to another candidate.
