The chairman, Bayelsa State Council of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, Comrade Esikumor Ekissa has lambasted the Nigerian Minister of Sports and Youths Development, Mr Solomon Dalong.
The youth leader who also doubles as the Special Adviser to the Bayelsa State Governor on Environmental Sanitation during a press briefing to intimate the public of the 2018 international Youth day celebration in Yenagoa, the State Capital, Friday described Mr Solomon Dalong as a misfit for the plump job of the Youths Ministry.
Describing Mr Dalong as a failure, Ekissa advised President Muhammadu Buhari to relief him of his Ministerial appointment, emphasizing that the Plateau State born minister who was one time secretary of the NYCN, Plateau State does not care about the welfare of youths in the country.
While calling on the President, Federal Republic of Nigeria to separate the Youth Ministry form sports, Comrade Ekissa said the current Minister for Youths and Sport is only concerned with fomenting troubles between sports unions in the country. Maintaining that it was appalling, chaos and least expected when Mr. Dalong was part of political activities which lead to the death of scores in recent times.
Meanwhile the Bayelsa State Council of the NYCN has released the itenery for the 2018 Youth day celebration.
In a press release the State Council says the event will kick start next week with thanksgiving service on Sunday 12th August, while Monday the 13th August is set aside for entrepreneurship lecture and seminar at the peace park, Yenagoa.
According to the press statement, former Bayelsa State commissioner for Youths development, Mr Collins Cocodia will be the chairman of the occasion while distinguished youth entrepreneurs will be given awards.
In a related development the duo of the secretary and treasurer NYCN, Bayelsa State Council, Mr Asari Ebikabowei Asari and Miss Glory Banigo have called on the Governments of Bayelsa State and Nigeria to continue in their quest at empowering Youths and Women.
The NYCN scribe and treasurer while calling on Youth to shun social vices also stressed the need for youths to prepare for the future, saying the theme for this year’s youth day celebration is ‘save space for youths’.
