Traders count loses after Kano market fire

Traders at the popular  Sabon Gari market in Kano, Northwest Nigeria, have been counting their loses after the fire outbreak that destroyed properties worth millions of naira in the market.

The cause of the Friday night fire outbreak that burnt till early Saturday is still unknown.

Eye witnesses around the market said, the fire started around the Sani Abacha Mosque before spreading to Gidan Magge.

Men from the Fire service according to reports arrived at the scene but uncountered difficulty in gaining access to stop the inferno. 

Further reports said, when the fire men eventually gained access, they however ran out of water, which made the fire to cause more havoc.

The fire outbreak is coming three months after the Singer food market in same city was gutted and traders now want the state government to proffer solution to market fire occurrence.
