Three Businessmen Face Criminal Charge Of Obtaining By False Pretence


An Igbosere Chief magistrate court Lagos state south west Nigeria has adjourned till Friday 12th of October, 2018, the trial of three accused men Alhaji Ismaila Adeniyi ,Stanley Ekerume, and James Imoudu alleged to have conspired together to obtain money by false pretence.

In a six count charge filed  before the court by Inspector A. Okere from Zone two police command of the Nigerian Police Force  ,it was alleged that the three accused men Alhaji Ismaila Adeniyi 60,Stanley Ekerume 62,and James Imoudu 44,sometimes between June 2017 and September 2017 at Apapa Lagos allegedly conspired amongst themselves and unlawfully obtained the sum  of N1,800,000 from one Chief Barnabas Igwe on a pretex that they will clear one container number TGLU-0154509 and sell to him, a presentation they knew to be false and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 314 of the criminal law of Lagos state of Nigeria 2015.

Alhaji Ismaila Adeniyi in count four of the criminal charge was alleged to have unlawfully obtained the sum of eleven million Naira from Chief Barnabas on the pretex that he will clear two containers, one truck with car for him at Clarion terminal Alakija, a presentation he knew to be false.

In count six of the charge, sometimes in October 2012 Stanley Ekerume was alleged to have stolen one container number MSCU 99127010 valued about twenty million Naira property of Chief Barnabas Igweh and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 287 of the criminal law of Lagos state Nigeria., 2015.

All the three defendants business men pleaded not guilty to the charge consequently they were admitted to bail in the sum of N5milion each with two sureties each in like sum.
