President Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) Lauds Ecobank’s Partnership with Okpekpe Road Race 2017

 

The President of the Athletics Federation Of Nigeria (AFN), Mr Solomon Ogba has lauded Ecobank’s partnership with the 2017 Okpekpe International Road Race slated for May 13.  

Ecobank Nigeria has been named the official bank of the 2017 Okpekpe International 10km Road Race by Pamodzi Sports Marketing, the organisers of the race.

Mr Ogba, who spoke to media men in Lagos said he was impressed with Ecobank’s consistently partnership with the annual event. He encouraged other corporate organisations to take a cue from the bank to support the growth of sports in Nigeria.

In his words “sports is about the most effective way to support youth development in any country. We should see it as a task we must all contribute to, especially as corporate bodies”.

Further Solomon Ogba, who assured of the participation of the AFN in this year’s Okpekpe Road Race lauded the organizers of the race for sustaining the event, which is a labeled race by both the International Association of Athletics Federations and the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races.

“We hope this year’s event will be more exciting. So far we are impressed with the participation of both local and international athletes across the continent. We will continue to be associated with the Okpekpe Road Race”, he said.

The Okpekpe event is the only IAAF Label Road Race in Africa listed on the January to June calendar of road races released by the IAAF. Also,   AIMS listed the race as the only one in Nigeria, whose course has been measured by an IAAF/AIMS accredited measurer.
