Youths of Yenagoa/Kolokuma/Opukuma Federal Constituency of Bayelsa state yesterday converged in the state capital, Yenagoa for the donation of money for the purchase of forms for a House of Representatives aspirant, Hon.Oforji Oboku.
National Wire learnt through its source that Oboku is currently representing Yenagoa Constituency one in the Bayelsa state House of Assembly and had previously served as caretaker Committee Chairman of Yenagoa council area.
Oboku, who was elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (Party), National Wire again learnt is aspiring for the House of Representatives seat for the Yenagoa/Kolokuma/Opokuma Federal Constituency on the same party’s platform, respectively.
Speaking with National Wire at the event, the convener Comrade, Dickson Sasime stated that youths of the two local government areas of Yenagoa and Kolokuma/Opokuma which make up the Federal Constituency having been following the lawmaker’s political and social trajectory decided to willingly make donations to foot the bills for the interest and nomination forms for him.
He restated that the aspirant in both his previously held and present positions as lawmaker has been instrumental to many successesbof youths of the area as well as has influenced the appointments of youths of the Constituency into political offices.
Sasime noted that youths of the Constituency were pleased with Hon. Oboku’s political aspiration,just as he described him as having made youths understand that they were more than useful in the scheme of things in the state.
“Oforji Oboku have touched lives. He was the one who made us, youths to understand that there’s much in government. And that as Youths we are indispensable in governance.
“This fund raising is voluntary,no body was forced, youths came in there numbers from the two LGAs of the Federal Constituency which also have five House of Assembly constituencies to give there freewill donations,due to their love for our leader, Hon. Oforji”, he said.
National Wire gathered that the event was held under the aegis of the coalition of Youths of Yenagoa/Kolokuma/Opokuma and was tagged, ‘passionate fund raising for Oforji’s House of Representatives forms’.
Meanwhile, Vice Chairman of Yenagoa council area,Hon.Mandy Sylvanus Akpalo has commended youths of the Constituency for making history, describing the recipient of the donations as a humble and selfless leader.
He gave the Commendations while speaking with National Wire on the side line of the event.
Akpalo averred that Hon. Oboku have never disappointed youths in terms of empowerment and in the lobby of appointments for them, assuring that the youths were ready to do more if the need arises to enable the aspirant secure landslide victories in both the party primaries slated this year and at the general elections, come 2023.
“Oforji is quite youthful. He has never disappointed the youths of Yenagoa council area and will not disappoint youths of the entire Federal Constituency if he’s elected.
“It’s based on his track record that made youths of the Federal Constituency and even beyond to gather here today to do this fund raising so that they can buy the PDP House of Representatives aspirant forms for him”, he said.
National Wire reports that announcing money realized at the end of the event,the convener,Comrade Dickson Sasime and other members of the fund raising committee said M3,105,000,just as the committee said they intend to use about N2,500,000 to purchase the form for the aspirant, while whatever is left would be channelled into other electioneering activities for the aspirant in the coming days.
