A 45- year old Man, who Usman Yohanna, who impersonated as a personnel of the Nigeria Police Force and mounted an illegal stop and search check point, along Boyi- Sarkin Daku road in Gurara local government area of Niger state, in collaboration with some of his accomplices in crime, has been arrested by the police operatives led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Gawu Babangida Division of the state Police Command.
His other gang members were however lucky following their escape from the arrest by the police patrol team and are now at large.
The incident occurred on 6th June,2020 at about 10: 00hours when the Police detectives led by the DPO Gawu Babangida Division , while on patrol along Boyi-Sarkin Daku road, Gurara LGA discovered an illegal check point mounted by an alleged ‘Inspector of Police’ identified as Usman Yohanna ‘m’ aged 45yrs of Television area, Kaduna state and others now at large.
National Wires learnt that the suspect claimed that he was a Inspector of Police , attached to Federal Special Anti- Robbery Squard Force Headquarters Abuja, but upon inquiry by the patrol team it was revealed that the said ‘Inspector of Police” was said to have been dismissed from service as a Sergeant since February 2019 at Sabon Tasha Division, Kaduna State Command.
It was further gathered that he arranged for the check point to extort unsuspecting members of the public.
Confirming the arrest of the suspected impostor, was the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Niger state Police Command, ASP Wasiu Abiodun in a brief interview with our reporter on Wednesday in Minna, adding that the suspect had since confessed to the crime.
He said, “exhibits recovered,from Usman Yohanna include a complete set of Police”, Camouflage, case , while assuring that the case will soon be charge to court,after investigation on the matter was concluded by the Police.
