In a major breakthrough against kidnapping, the Lagos State Police Command has arrested two Pakistanis, Roman Gull (19) and Aftab Ahmad (28), for allegedly masterminding a notorious kidnapping gang. Five other suspects, also Pakistanis, remain at large.
According to a statement by CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, Lagos Police PRO, the suspects lured a 48-year-old Pakistani from Kano to Lagos under the guise of offering him a chef’s job. Upon arrival on February 28, 2025, they abducted him, demanding ₦50 million ransom from his employer. The employer paid ₦1 million before alerting the police.
Swift police action led to the victim’s rescue on March 5, 2025, and the arrest of two captors. Items recovered include a Toyota Camry, $2,000 cash, ATM cards, a green card, and identity documents. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects.
Lagos Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, praised the officers for their swift response and reassured residents of the Command’s commitment to safety. The rescued victim is in good condition and has reunited with his family.
