Candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), Alhaji Moshood Olalekan Adeoti, has alleged that plans are now afoot to rig the September 22 Osun State governorship poll in favour of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola.
In a statement made available to the media on Wednesday by the Director of Media and Publicity of the Moshood Adeoti Campaign Organization (MACO),Kayode Agbaje,the ruling APC in the state has allegedly been bribing INEC to make the outcome of the election favour its candidate.
“The members of the public are by this statement informed of several clandestine moves by the state government and the ruling-All Progressives Congress(APC) in colussion with some officials of INEC and security operatives to rig the Saturday September 22 governorship poll in favour of the APC candidate, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola,” the statement said.
Adeoti said the government has has also been “appealing and cajoling some unscrupulous staffers” of INEC to just announce the APC candidate as winner.
He said the APC is also urging the umpire to allow whoever feels aggrieved to go to the election tribunal to challenge the result, not minding the votes counted and recorded at the polling units.
“To facilitate this, lots of money have exchanged hands in the past few days and this is the reason for the fake confidence exhibited by the governor at their poorly attended rally on Tuesday.
“Our reliable sources have also confirmed that some of the security operatives were specially brought into the state for the hatchet of ensuring victory for the APC candidate,” the statement added.
ADP,therefore, called for all the parties in the election to be treated equally while INEC should transmit results electronically.
The party said the security operatives should also curtail the activities of “thousands of thugs imported to the state to cause confusion and mayhem during the election.”
It also called on the international community and team of observers to insist on fairness, equity and justice from the part of INEC and the security operatives during the election.
