French police has said that a Greek Orthodox priest has been shot on Saturday outside his church in the city of Lyon, France.

The attacker is said to be on the run while the priest has been rushed to a local hospital for treatment.

It was gathered that the priest with life-threatening injuries was shot on the abodmen by the unnamed assilant after rounding off church service.

Agency reports quoted a police officer as saying that “The attacker was alone and fired from a hunting rifle.

Police locked down the neighborhood around the church and warned the public on Twitter to stay away.
