The Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, has passed on at the age of 90.

According to Tribune Online, the revered monarch died in the early hours of Monday, July 7, 2025, just two days after marking his 90th birthday.

Oba Olakulehin ascended the throne in July 2024 and received the staff of office from Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, on July 12, 2024. He became the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland, following the passing of his predecessor, Oba (Dr.) Moshood Lekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II, who died on March 14, 2024, at the age of 81.

The late monarch rose through the traditional chieftaincy ranks to become the Balogun Olubadan before his ascension to the throne. His reign, though brief, was marked by grace, wisdom, and commitment to the progress of Ibadanland.
