Ogun Police nabbed fake assistant custom comptroller, fake female Police Inspector

Ogun State Police Command has arrested a man who has been parading himself as an Assistant Comptroller of Custom and using the service uniform to extort money from unsuspecting members of the public and organisations.
The suspect, Wasiu Ariyo was arrested after writing to Nestle Nigeria Plc, Agbara, Ogun State requesting for 100 empty plastic or steel drums. He had written to them using the Nigerian Custom Service letter head paper, a request the company approved without delay.
As an Assistant Comptroller, he wasn’t expected to lead the team that will come for the drums collection but to the company’s surprise, Ariyo did not only lead the team, he came with vehicles that were not custom vehicles.
The act made the company management became suspicious and decided to alert the Police.
According to Ogun State public relations officer, ASP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the company was advised to lure the suspect by asking him to come back for the remaining drums. The suspect took the bait and came back for the collection of the remaining drums in a complete custom uniform and detectives from Agbara Division who were already waiting for him promptly got him arrested.
Ariyo during interrogation confessed to have served as a Custom Officer but has been dismissed from the service since 2010.
In the same vein, a fake female Police Inspector was also arrested by Policemen attached to Mowe Division. The suspect who identified herself as Victoria David was arrested when she approached the DPO Mowe Division and introduced herself as a serving Police Inspector attached to a Division in River State.
The DPO who doubted the authenticity of her claim quickly made a phone call to the Division she claimed to be serving and was told that no woman police by that name has ever served there, that the name does not exist in their file.
She was promptly arrested and on interrogation, the Kogi State born woman confessed that she has never been a Police Officer and that she bought the uniform and identity card in Port-Harcourt.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Iliyasu has ordered a thorough investigation into the two cases and that the two suspects be charged to court as soon as possible.
