…set to conduct EX SAHEL SANITY against bandits in Katsina

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Tukur Buratai has called on the General Officers Commanding, Field Commanders and Principal Staff Officers to activate every strategy, methodology, as well as redouble their efforts and ensure that all security threats in the country are effectively checkmated.
He said, “There is no time for complacency, no time for excuses and there will be no tolerance for shortcomings or failures, the situation must be reversed immediately”.
In a meeting with Principal Staff Officers, General Officers Commanding and Field Commanders at the Army Headquarters in Abuja on Monday, Buratai reviewed insecurities matters, the state of the counter terrorism and other Internal Security Operations in Nigeria and added that this was the time to flush them out.
This is the first time such a meeting is held since President Mohammadu Buhari lambasted all the service chiefs last week over the spate of insecurities in the country.
It was learnt that the meeting specifically focussed on routing out insurgency and change the war narrative and flush out Boko Haram combatants and insurgency, North West banditry as well as the myriad of other security challenges across the country.
Gen Buratai told all the Commanders/GOCs, officers and men of the Nigerian Army that this was the time for action to justify the President and Commander – in- Chief mandate to fully implement the speedy crushing of Boko Haram and other myriad of security threats facing the nation.
“The criminals and their collaborators and sponsors must be exposed, flushed out and destroyed”, Buratai reiterated.
Worried by the menace of bandits around Katsina, Zamfara and Sokoto axis, Lt Buratai disclosed that the Nigerian Army Day Celebration 2020 would be held in Katsina state during which a major Army exercise nicknamed EX SAHEL SANITY will be conducted.
He further disclosed that the Nigerian Army has already commenced major reorganization of her operations for optimal performances.
As a result, he charged all Commanders to be in the front by being out in the field to effectively oversee the operations.
Lt Gen Buratai warned that he wants to see an all encompassing positive changes in the NA operations and the security situation in the country.
