Niger State  Govt Assures Payment Of March Salaries This Week

Niger state government has assured the state civil servants of it’s commitment towards the payment of monthly salaries and pensions despite short falls experienced from the statutory Federation Account.

Commissioner of Finance, Alhaji Usman Mohammed Tinau reiterated the commitment of the state in an  interview with the newsmen at the weekend in Minna.

Tinau assured the commencement of the payment of March salaries at any moment from now or before the  week runs over just as he passionately  appealed to workers to exercise patience with the government

He however maintained that the FAAC allocations   to the State has continued to be dwindled for the past four months adding that the federal allocation were been complimentary to enhanced payment of salaries in the state.

Reacting to the alleged frozen of the state government’s  accounts by a High Court sitting in Minna following case file instituted against it by some contractors, the Commissioner said only Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) account that was garnished and had agreed to settle out of court.

Tinau explained further that there were two contractors involved in which one was a ‘legacy debt’  who made a supply of motorcycles  during the last administration of Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu to the sum of N200million then, that has raised the debt volume.payment due  to long term interests attracted by the money owed the contractor  but have agreed through a committee set up by Governor Abubakar Sani Bello to vacate court case for settlement.
