NCC Orders Disconnection Of Exchange Telecommunications From MTN Over Unpaid Interconnect Charges

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has announced that MTN Nigeria Communications Limited (MTN) will cease to transmit voice and data traffic through Exchange Telecommunications Limited (Exchange) effective five days from the notice date.

According to Mr. Reuben Mouka, Director Public Affairs at NCC, this decision follows a thorough review of Exchange’s outstanding interconnect charges.

According to the NCC, Exchange failed to settle its debts despite being given the opportunity to respond to the application for disconnection.

The commission granted approval for the disconnection in accordance with Section 100 of the Nigerian Communications Act, 2003.
