The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has commended the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) for establishing 24/7 emergency response centres to address school-related emergencies across the country.
NANS in a statement said this initiative, led by the National Coordinator of the Schools Protection Squad (SPS), CP Abayomi Shogunle, demonstrates the NPF’s commitment to safeguarding students, teachers, and educational infrastructure.
Further, NANS President, Comrade Olushola Oladoja, praised the Inspector General of Police, Dr. Kayode Egbetokun, for his visionary leadership and commitment to ensuring schools remain safe.
According to him, the association recognizes the collaborative approach adopted by the NPF, involving partnerships with security agencies, educational institutions, and community leaders.
The 24/7 emergency response centres, accessible via a dedicated line, provide a vital resource for reporting emergencies and ensuring swift responses to threats.
NANS urges students to stay vigilant, report suspicious activities, and participate in sensitization programs to promote safety awareness and prevent crime.
