Legendary Highlife Star, Victor Olaiya Dies At 89

Dr. Victor Olaiya is dead.
Olaiya whose highlife music trended in Nigeria and Ghana during his active years was born 31st December 1930.
According to the Managing Director of Evergreen Music Company Ltd, Bimbo Esho, Olaiya  passed on at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) on Wednesday.
Victor Abimbola Olaiya played highlife music which was famous  during the 1950s and early 1960s.
He also received  recognition outside Nigeria and  Alhaji Alade Odunewu of the then Daily Times described Olaiya as “The Evil Genius of Highlife.”
His popular tracks include Omo Pupa, Mo fe mu yan, Omolanke, Ilu le, Adogan etc.
He will be greatly missed by the entertainment industry in Nigeria.
