A Nigerian journalist, Kingsley Ediale, has continued to impress celebrities with his personalized and beautifully worded letters he churns out on a regular basis, focusing on their strong points and general comments about the public figures.
On Facebook and Instagram, his letters have gathered thousands of comments, likes and shares by readers and the individuals he writes about with his pay off line that borders on the current issues of public attention about the individuals.
Through the flurry of witty notes he calls InstaLetterz, Ediale has “inked” about the musical sensation, Simi; the popular blogger, Linda Ikeji, comedian, Seyilaw; actress, Mercy Johnson; U.K-based Nigerian boxer, Anthony Joshua as well as popular footballers like Lionel Messi, Christiano Ronaldo and Neymar Junior, to elicit comments from the stars and their fans.
Former Vice President and the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 election, Atiku Abubakar and that of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, as well as the Nigerian Acting Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, have also been among the tens of subjects of his InstaLetterz.
Ediale, in one of his letters, jokingly described Simi as the best girlfriend he never had and Adekunle Gold as a man who gave his dream and that of Falz da Bad Guy a kiss of death.
In the postscript of his InsterLetter to Atiku, Ediale said: “You just distracted us from shaming all the Chelsea fans. Arsenal beat them 2-0 but now, all of them have turned political analysts on social media,” referring to the former Vice President’s appearance at the venue of and non participation in a Presidential debate.
Also, in response to one of such letters he directed at the gubernatorial Candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, a reader of the post quickly sent Ediale a recharge card which he declined loading on his phone.
“(They) never ever sent me a recharge card before. All they do is disturb me when I’m about writing the PS of my letters,” Ediale later said about the card loaded by one of his readers who later acknowledged same.
This is as Mazi Owute of Errand Joe, an errand delivery company that has provided jobs for hundreds of Errand Agents in Lagos and environs, couldn’t hide his emotions as he said in one of his comments: “I’m so blushing. Thank you Sir. We won’t give up.”
Ediale is the Editor Trends, Entertainment and Sports with National Daily,a Lagos-based newspaper, and he is a journalist with over 10 years experience.
