Iwajowa Local Government Area is located in Oke Ogun part of Oyo State, South West Nigeria.
The Local Government Area with land mass of 2,529 kilometre square was created from Kajola Local Government Area on 4th December, 1996 during the military administration of the former Head of State, General Sanni Abacha.
The administrative headquarters of the Local Government Area are located at Iwere Ile, a historic Yoruba war town.
Iwajowa Local Government Consists of numerous towns including Igana, Ilaji Ile, Idiko Ago, Ago Itasa, Eleekodan, Ijio, Ayetoro Ile, Ayegun Wasimi and several other settlements.
The people are descendants of the Oke Ogun/Ònkò Yoruba sub group within the defunct Oyo Empire.
Politically the Local Government Area is headed by an executive Chairman, Hon. Muritala Abiodun Oyewumi.
Traditionally, Iwajowa is administered by traditional leaders with such titles as the Obas, Baales who function under the Sabiganna of Iganna which is the permanent Chairman of the Iwajowa traditional council. He is also a permanent member of the Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs.
Iwajowa Local Government Area is rich in mineral resources which also helps in the development of the area. These mineral resources include; Gold, Garnet, Tantalite, Amphibolite, Quartz, Tourmaline, Feldspar among others.
The people of the area engage in large scale farming of food and cash crops. The area equally has a comparative advantage in animal husbandry due to the abundance grassland of the savannah.
Some of the crops grown in the area include cashew, cocoa, corn, cassava, okra, yams, shea nuts, cow pea among other crops.
