A missionary outfit operating in Benin Republic, Jesus Missionary Commission, has established a bilingual school in Goure, northern part of the country.
Pastor Olusina Sadiku, after the foundation laying of the school, told newsmen that the school was long overdue and the people are fortunate to have missionaries operating in the area.
“The name of the school is Bilingual School of Goure Bomboua, Republic of Benin and we just laid the foundation of the building to house the school,” Sadiku said.
Sadiku, a graduate of the University of Ife, is a missionary based in Ibadan who travels round mission fields to provide support.
Speaking further, he said, “We are operating in the northern part of Benin Republic inhabited by Baruba people and Gando Fulani, a version of the popular Fulani people. Pastor Femi Dada is on the field and he has done so much in that area among the natives.
“The people have no schools near them and we made attempt to start a school for the children. By the grace of God the chief of the village gave us land and the school is going to serve various communities in the area.”
He said he has no doubt the facility would benefit the natives and pupils from various communities would have opportunity to receive western education.
“The Fulanis there are largely idle and once the girls get to certain young age they are giving out in marriage without education and without discovering their potential not to mention maximizing such potentials,”Sadiku said while talking about the lifestyle of the natives.
Talking about the building meant for the school, Sadiku said, “The Fulanis themselves make use of local materials to build up to the level it is now, we are to assist by providing roofing sheets, cement for plastering and flooring, provide desks and chairs.
“The school will take off next session by the grace of God in September 2018, it is an opportunity to be part of this. Jesus is Lord.”
The missionary efforts is, however, expected to provide education and enlightenment necessary for the people to discover and maximize their potentials as well as widening their opportunities.
