Report reaching us from our sources has it that atleast four youths from Agudama-Epie and Akenfa communities of Yenagoa Local Government Area, Bayelsa State have been feared dead in a renewed inter- communal reprisal clashes.
Our sources say this is about a record fifth time the once peaceful bordering communities in the heart of Yenagoa,the Bayelsa state seat of power would have been involved in this inglorious feud as a result of disputed lands.
The inter communal crisis which has thrown Yenagoa,the state capital into deep fear of the unknown started at the weekend,it was brought under control due to timely intervention by the State Governor, Douye Diri and the Scurity outfits in the state.
Our correspondent gathered that the clashes began when some youths from Agudama-Epie community at the Weekend trailed a youth from Akenfa community in their area,they were alleged to have robbed him of his money, badly battered him and eventually killed him.
Sources report that the deceased was a member of one of the dreaded cult groups in the state,saying that might have led to the reprisal attacks from the youths of the Akenfa community.
We gathered that in vengeance, the Akenfa people invaded and murdered no fewer three youths from Agudama community.
sources, in the area who pleaded anonymity, said though the incident has been brought under control, there is still presence of security operatives on both side, including the military.
You would recall that the Agudama-Epie and Akenfa crisis which anonymous sources say is recurring incessantly has led to the hosting of saveral emergency meetings with Elders and opinion leaders of the sister communities by successive administrations of the state,including the present Government.
The state Governor assured the communities a of peaceful resolution of the cause of the Communal crisis which sources say may not be unconnected to land dispute.
Our sources reports that it that has been decided that those alleged to have been responsible for the murder of members of the warring duo communities will be made to face the consequences of the Law by the Government.
Speaking with our sources, the police public relations officer of the State Police Command, Asinim Butswat, affirmed to have been aware of the clashes,saying however that he was aware of the murder of one person alone.
The Nigerian police,Bayelsa state command public Relations officer emphasised that the clashes have been contained by the command.
