‎FMDQ Sees Surge In Secondary Market Activity, Turnover Hits N63.90trn

‎The FMDQ Exchange has reported a substantial increase in its secondary market turnover for August 2025, reaching N63.90 trillion.

‎This represents a month-on-month (MoM) growth of 36.94% or N17.24 trillion, and a year-on-year (YoY) increase of 58.06% or N23.47 trillion, compared to July 2025 and August 2024, respectively.

‎The total turnover for the Spot Market was N60.99 trillion, while the Derivatives Market recorded a turnover of N2.91 trillion.

‎The Spot FX Market Turnover was $13.54 billion (N20.77 trillion), marking a MoM increase of 6.11% or $0.78 billion from July 2025’s $12.76 billion.

‎In the Derivatives Market, total turnover in the FX Market segment was $1.90 billion (N2.91 trillion), representing a MoM increase of 42.23% or $0.56 billion from July 2025 figures.

‎The Naira depreciated against the US Dollar in the FX market, with the spot exchange rate increasing by 0.23% or N3.49 to close at an average of N1,535.18 per US Dollar in August 2025. This is up from N1,531.69 recorded in July 2025, with the rate trading within a range of N1,530.00 to N1,538.45.
