A presidential hopeful, Fela Durotoye, has appealed to Nigerians to get their voter card as soon as possible, declaring that the voter card is their weapon of change.

Durotoye made the appeal during the meeting of the Full Gospel Businessmen Fellowship International organised by the Victoria Island Executive Chapter at the Eko Hotels and Suites in Lagos recently.

While humorously stating that “We are orchestrating a project very soon which we call ‘lockup’. We are orchestrating every married woman whose husband doesn’t have a PVC to lock up as from 1st July,”

By that he meant wives should not give in to the sex demands of their husbands if they do not have a PVC

He however appealed to the Independent National Electoral Commissions (INEC) to double up its efforts to ensure more Nigerians obtain their Permanent Voter Card (PVC) in good time ahead of the 2019 elections.

INEC according to him should be put under intense pressure with quiet protests and marches so they could make available the voter card to all. “We are telling political parties to tender their dissatisfactions. We are aware that if you are in a certain extension of the country you would find it difficult to get your PVC. The process itself is not free and fair while in some parts of the country it is not difficult to register to vote.”

He warned that, “Election protests may happen if the young people who need to vote are disenfranchised. We are pleading to INEC now. People are volunteering their laptops and their services in some places to assist INEC but the electoral body is not accepting. There are churches willing to volunteer too. We are going to mount internal and external pressure to ensure INEC responds to calls on PVC.”

The motivational speaker who has great appeal among the middle age elite class advised that “everybody begin to gather their own kind. Whoever you find appealing support that person. Don’t sit down doing nothing, connect with the guy who appeals to you.”

The intending aspirant who wishes to run on the platform of the Alliance for a New Nigeria bemoaned the situation of things in the country wondering why a country so endowed with human and natural resources will still the majority wallowing in poverty.
