Delta Flames FC on Sunday emerged as winners of the 2025 edition of the Mbiama community Inter-tribal football tournament beating Yoruba FC 4-3 in a penalty shoot out.
In an unpredictable bout, the two opponents thrilled spectators with their skills.
However, with a superb performance, the Warfi FC(Delta Flames) found the back of the net scoring the first goal in the first half through their midfielder, Justice Mabinton.
The encounter changed with more thrills in the second half as the Oduduwa boys(Yoruba FC) made an equalizer in the 60th minutes of the game through their forward, Dele Adebayo.
The 95 minutes of the encounter ended in draws as the opponents decided their fates through penalty kicks with the Warfi boys winning 4-3 to lift the trophy in addition to N200,000 cash reward.
First runner-up, Yoruba FC received a cash reward of N120,000.
Earlier in a third place match decided on Saturday, Edo FC has trashed Igbo FC 2-1 to clinch 3rd place and N80,000 cash reward.
Meanwhile, sponsor of the tournament and Paramount ruler of Mbiama community, HRH Otovie Smith Sylvanus has hailed the champions of the second edition of the Inter-tribal football finals.
He hinted that it will continue to be a yearly event as he hopes to use it to build peace and love amongst various tribes living in the transit community and commercial hub of the Ahoada-West Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The monarch also said the tournament has reduced crime and criminality in the community, calling on well-meaning individuals to partner the community to ensure enduring peace and tranquility through sponsorship of sports and other meaningful engagements for youths.
Also speaking, the CEO ChrisNimex global resources, Hon. Inime Wilson Karibo said the tournament has contributed meaningfully in curbing crime and criminality in the community.
He lauded the Paramount ruler and the winners for their efforts, noting that sports has enormous potentials of creating jobs for youths across the world.
