A non-Governmental organisation,Keffes Royal Development foundation,KRDF at the Weekend distributed palliatives to coastal communities within its area of operation in Bayelsa state.
Speaking to Journalists shortly after presentation of the items,Chairman of KRDF,Mr Matthew Sele-pri said a his the foundarion donated to a total of 8 communities the palliatives which were mostly garri to ameliorate their suffering occassioned by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The food items according to the NGO where provided by Chevron Nigeria Limited and First E & P Companies respectively.
The Chairman said, the companies in partnership with his foundation provided the items according to what the people requested for.
“Members of these communities specifically requested for garri as what they needed most, So we spoke with our partners and made available 200 bags of 50kg jumbo garri to each of the 8 communities,”he said.
Benefiting communities of the palliatives include Koluama 1 & 2, Ekeni, Ezetu 1 & 2, Fishtown, Foropa and Sangana communities,all member communities of the NGO.
“On behalf of the KRDF, I want to appreciate Chevron Nigeria Ltd and First E & P for this very kind gesture in times like this. Our communities needed these relief materials because it’s a challenging time for us”,he added.
Mr. Sele-pri urged the CDC Chairmen present at the handover to ensure that the materials are distributed to the poorest of the poor people in order to ameliorate their suffering as occasioned by the lockdown.
KRDF consist communities along the coastline of Bayelsa state,cutting across Brass and southern Ijaw Local government areas of the state respectively.
