Church Robber Meets Waterloo In Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command Ilemba Hausa Police Station on Sunday arrested a 19 year old armed robbery suspect, Wasiu Kamarudeen and recovered a locally-made short gun with one live-cartridge.

The suspect was said to have gone to the Jakande open field venue of the three-day retreat organised by the St. Patrick Catholic Renewal Church, Jakande State, Isolo, Lagos with three other suspects.

An anonymous source revealed to the correspondent that the men of the Ilemba Hausa Police Station received a distress call from the church members on Saturday evening that one motorcycle was sighted carrying three passengers into the camp ground in a suspicious manner. The passenger mixed with the crowd with the purpose to dispossess worshipers of their valuables.

On the strength of the information, the patrol teams deployed to the retreat ground were able to apprehend Kamarudeen who allegedly had a gun and a live cartridge in his possession.

According to a witness present at the scene during their operation, their operational motorcycle with registration number OGUN AKM 749 WP was also recovered.

The Command Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) has begun a manhunt for the remaining two suspects. Investigation is ongoing and the case will be charged to court when investigation is completed.
