President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated United States’ President-Elect Mr. Donald Trump who emerged winner of the presidential election yesterday.
In a statement from the Presidency, President Buhari said, “As Mr. Trump prepares to assume the position of the President of the United States, I extend my good wishes to you on the onerous task of leading the world’s strongest economy.”
In a related development, other world leaders also extended their congratulatory messages to Mr. Trump. Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Mrs Theresa May, President Vladimir Putin of Russia, French President François Hollande, Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany, Italy’s Prime Minister, Matteo Renzi Boris Pahor, and the Prime Minister of Spain, Mariano Rajoy have all congratulated the President-elect and Americans generally.
Trump won against bookmakers’ calculations in a victory that has continued to shock the entire world.
Meanwhile, some Nigerians have believed that there would be a difference between the Trump during campaign who was volatile and blunt and a President Trump who would soon see the reality of things in a bigger picture.
Also the market has continued to feel the outcome of the election. Stock Market analysis, global oil price and other vital global interests have seen differences in due to the outcome of the election.
Candidate of the Democrats, Hilary Clinton has however congratulated Trump but expressed her shock and pain as a result of her loss.
However, fingers are crossed as things unfold in few days while the world waits to see the real outcome of the US election. The winner has also promised to be President of all Americans and is bent on rebuilding the country, making the number one nation great again.
