The Bible Society of Nigeria in collaboration with the Church Growth Ministry is building the capacity of ministers and pastors in the areas of crisis management, succession planning and home management.
The first in the series of the training, which is part of the BSN’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to the Church in Nigeria aimed at strengthening its strategic partnership with it, took place on August 5, 2021 in Lagos with 460 people in attendance.
The theme of the training is: Leveraging kingdom resource tools for maximum impact in the ministry and building the family front for a Biblical value-oriented Society.
The capacity building is necessitated by the need to help the Church overcome the social, economic, environmental and other challenges confronting the nation; and remain focused on its mandate of soul wining.
The training covered the following topics: Crisis Management Principles and the Church Today: Joseph’s Principle. The Home: Foundation to Church, societal and National Growth & Development, and Biblical Perspective of Succession Mandate of a Leader.
A cross section of the participants who spoke after the training thanked the BS Nigeria for opening their eyes to a lot of things. Speaking about one of the things he learnt at the training, Pastor Michael Ayodele of Christ Mount Zion Church, Ijanikin, Lagos said that he had become aware of the importance of preparing the people that would take over from him so that there would be continuity in the work of God.
Also speaking, Reverend Kolade Olayiwola of the Church of Nigeria [Anglican Communion] said, “I learnt so many things from this training. For a leader to succeed, he needs this type of training. One of the reasons why the ministry does not grow is because we don’t develop our subordinates because we are afraid they will outshine us, but the truth is that when all of us shine together we shine like bright stars.”
In addition to the training, each of the participants received a copy of the Bible. The target is to train a minimum of 7,000 pastors who will also receive a copy of the Bible. The American Bible Society donated the copies of the Bible.
