Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Boris Johnson has been taken to the intensive care unit of St. Thomas Hospital in London as his case worsen this afternoon due to severe coronavirus symptoms.
Johnson, it was learnt was admitted to the hospital on Sunday for what Downing Street called “routine tests.”
It was also gathered that Johnson who has been sick for about 10 days after he tested positive for the Covid-19, was moved to the intensive care unit for adequate care according to the Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab, who has been tasked to act on behalf of the PM “where necessary.”
Dominic said “Johnson remains conscious at this time and was moved to the ICU as a precaution in case a ventilator is needed, according to Downing Street.
Johnson, 55, was the first world leader to announce he had tested positive for the virus, on March 27.
“Since Sunday evening, the Prime Minister has been under the care of doctors at St Thomas’ Hospital, in London, after being admitted with persistent symptoms of coronavirus.
Overthe course of this afternoon, the condition of the Prime Minister has worsened and, on the advice of his medical team, he has been moved to the Intensive Care Unit at the hospital.
The PM has asked Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab, who is the First Secretary of State, to deputise for him where necessary.
The PM is receiving excellent care, and thanks all NHS staff for their hard work and dedication.” A statement created to the spokesperson of Downing Street reiterated.
