Agbura community,Yenagoa council area of Bayelsa state, a suburb of Yenagoa in the state capital have joined the league of those calling on government attention to projects abandoned in the state.
Speaking with Newsmen on tour of such projects in parts of the state,Agbura community Youth president,Simon God’swill called on the Governor Douye Diri’s administration to reconsider the completion of the aged-long abandoned Agbura-Oxbow lake road in the community.
He berated past administrations for not taking cognisance of the project, noting that government ought to have thought about not just the economic importance of the road but also other social implications of abandoning it for too long.
“For no fewer than 15years this project has remained fallow.No government’s will whatsoever in completing it. It was during the Alamieyeseigha’s era that this road project was conceived,but Sylva awarded it”, he said.
“Sylva left,Dickson came in and for 8years didn’t do anything on this project.We’re pleading with the Governor Douye Diri’s prosperity government to come to our aide by completing this project amongst others located here in Agbura community”, the duo added.
“We’re the highest voting strength in this ward.And we’ve always delivered the PDP in every election,we don’t know why the government has abandoned us”, he noted.
All attempts at reaching the state commissioner for works and infrastructure, Sur.Moses Teibowei for clarification on the matter yielded no positive results.
From feelers we gathered that the said Works commissioner was reported monitoring some ongoing projects recently,but upon these,the Agbura community say he did not consider revisiting the site of the much touted abandoned road project in the community.
