Following the abduction of two teenagers on 28 December, 2020, by one Chibuzor Awurumibe 32, the suspect has been arrested by the police.
It was learnt that Mrs. Ifesinachi Ezekwe of Irette in Owerri West LGA, Imo State, reported at the Divisional Police Headquarters Oru West, that since 6th October, 2020, her neighbour, one Chibuzor Awurumibe, 32, abducted two of her children identified as Chioma Ezekwe, a female, 12 years old and China Ezekwe, a male, and 14 years old as efforts to trace them failed.
Sequel to the report, the Commissioner of Police, CP Nasiru Mohammed directed the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit to go into the matter with a view to arresting the suspect and rescue the children.
As a result, the operatives of the Anti-kidnapping Unit swung into action and on 23 February, 2021, after a painstaking and diligent investigation, the suspect, Chibuzor Awurumibe, a native of Okohia in Isiala Mbano Local Government Area in Orlu town was arrested and two children rescued.
SP Ikeokwu Godson Orlando, spokesperson of Imo State Police Command, who confirmed the arrest and rescue said that preliminary investigation revealed that while he was using the boy (Chima Ezekwe) for child labour, he was using the little girl for sexual satisfaction.
It was also revealed that moments before the arrest of the suspect, he had just finished having canal knowledge of the girl.
It was further discovered that he started having canal knowledge of her while they were living together at Mgbidi before he decided to take them away.
Investigation is ongoing and he would be charged to court soon after the completion of investigations.
