Engineer (Prince) Ekaunkumo Amgbare has emerged as new President of the Izonwari Unity Forum of the Federal University Otuoke.
National Wire gathered that Amgbare and others were elected new Executive Members to run the affairs of the social-cultural organization for the next two years.
The election conducted in the institution also produced Bereh Tebebi as Vice President, Moses Amadon, Secretary- General and Amatoru Victor, Assistant Secretary.
Others include, Felix Nelson Ebi popularly referred to as Accounto as Treasurer, Otonye Jonathan, Financial Secretary, Sinclair Yeibo, Public Relations Officer while Zuokumor Sunday is to serve as Provost respectively.
Earlier, in his opening remarks preceding the election, the Electoral Committee Chairman, Amaebi Feinfa informed that all the available positions had only one contestant that successfully completed and submitted their expression of interest forms.
Following the absence of contenders, the electoral umpire declared and returned the aspirants unopposed for their various positions.
In his acceptance speech, the newly elected President of forum thanked members for considering them worthy to lead the association.
He promised to embark on aggressive membership drive, unity and move the association to expected heights.
Amgbare urged members to attend meetings regularly, appealing to the forum members to share ideas with the executives in order to move the body forward.
The president thanked the founding fathers for nurturing the association from inception to the present dispensation, and lauded the Electoral Committee for conducting a peaceful election.
Also speaking, pioneer President of the forum, Comrade Jato Oyabelemo, enjoined the new executives to foster unity, protect and project the interest of staff of Ijaw extraction working in the university.
He urged them to pay courtesy visit to the leadership of INC, IYC, Chief Edwin Clark, other Ijaw leaders and call for regular meetings, amongst others.
Oyabelemo suggested that forum make an upward review in line with current economic realities in the country.
The erstwhile President also enjoined the new leadership of the body to study the forum’s constitution and operate in accordance with the tenets as succinctly enshrined.
Also speaking, comrade Nelson Ebi suggested that meeting should be convened once in each quarter of the year, while lzonrite Queeneth call for appointment of a women leader in the new Exco.
Others who made suggestions ranging from review of the Constitution, courtesy visit to management of the university, creating awareness of the existence of the association, holding regular meetings and commending the founding fathers include, Ekiokenegha Vincent, Okoyen Amananaotu, Tamarankuro Sonrandein, Ofabo Peremobowei Austin, Newton Ozolozo among others.
On his part, the newly elected Vice President, Bereh Tebebi thanked those who found time to be present at the election and expressed gratitude to Dr.(Mrs.) Juliet Bodisere Teibowei and Francis Elawaremi for their financial support, and others who contributed towards the conduct of successful of election.
The Electoral Committee Chairman Amaebi Feinfa gave the vote of thanks and urged members to support the Executive Members to succeed in their new assignment.
