ALGON National President advocates LGs Autonomy in Nigeria

The newly elected National President of the Association of Local Government Chairmen of Nigeria{ALGON} Alhaji Gambo Tanko Kagara has called on the Federal Government to  urgently begin the process of ensuring  full implementation of  autonomy to 774 Local Government Councils across the country.

 The ALGON national  President,  who is also the incumbent Chairman of Rafi Local Government of Niger state and the state’s  Chairman of ALGON, made the call shortly after his election as the new national President of the association at NICON Luxury Hotel, Area 11, Abuja the Federal Capital Territory

 Alhaji Gambo Tanko Kagara also called for speedy acceleration of good governance at the grassroots level as well as commending the Federal Government for its commitment to the revival of the nation’s economy, presently in recession following the recently passing into Law  the “ ease of doing business” in Nigeria by  the Acting President , Professor Yemi Osinbajo and prayed for quick recovery and good health of President Muhammadu Buhari who is presently in the United Kingdom for medical treatment . 

The new ALGON national  President, thereby promised that the new leadership of the association at the Centre are competence to turn the fortunes of the association around  through constructive engagement of members to embark on the implementation of programmes that have direct bearings on the people at  their respective local governments in parts of the country with the view that ordinary citizens enjoyed the dividends of democracy in their respective locations across the country. 

Alhaji Gambo Tanko Kagara also assured of his leadership’s unalloyed loyalty , determination and the vision to transform ALGON , in order to achieve the association’s unlimited opportunities through the adoption  of  open door and transparent policy by his administration at the centre .

 He however commended the role played by the association’s caretaker committee, led by its Chairman and his predecessor in office, Alhaji Ibrahim Ahmed Karai, from Kano state, just as he expressed appreciation for the roles played by the Niger state Governor,         Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello and thanked other states governors across the country for their supports to see the conduct of free, fair and credible election  recently held  by the association . 

Meanwhile, those elected to serve in different capacities  with Alhaji Gambo Tanko Kagara as the new  National President , ALGON, include Hon. Nnamdi Udueze {Abia state} Deputy President, Hon. Sani Hassan S. Dogari{Gombe state} Treasurer, Hon. qSuleiman Mohammed Kardo { Kebbi state} Auditor, and Hon. Joseph Shazi{FCT} Legal Adviser, including Hon. Depo Olagunju{ Ekiti state }who will serve as  the National Publicity Secretary of the association
