Alamieyeseigha for burial on 9th April

The late former governor of Bayelsa State and self-styled governor general of Ijaw nation, Chief Diepreye Alamieyeseigha is billed for burial 9th April, Bayelsa State government has confirmed.

Alamieyesei­gha, who died on October 10, 2015 in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, was the first executive governor of the oil-rich state.

According to the burial programme released by the state government, the deceased would be given a state burial spanning four days in Yenagoa and his hometown, Amassoma.

A committee has been set up by the state government, headed by the Deputy Governor, Rear Admiral John Jonah to ensure that the former governor is giv­en a befitting burial worthy of his status as a revered Ijaw leader.

According to the programme, there would be a service of songs in Yenagoa and night of tributes in same town on 7th April  to be fol­lowed by a wake keep at his country home in Amas­soma on the 9th.

The interment takes place 9th April in Amassoma, where a Thanksgiving service would also hold.

According to family source, the state government is in charge of the programme.
