Mr. Julius Adeolu Afolabi the self acclaimed doctor who is currently cooling his feet at the headquarters of the Ogun state Police Command for obtaining money by pretending to be a doctor has denied that he was operating an illegal clinic.
“I went to the school and hygiene in Ibadan, Oyo state after which I became an apprentice under a very good doctor, whom I will not like to mention his name, for two years. It was the doctor that established the hospital but because of his busy schedule, I was ask to front for him because I can deliver pregnant women and am very good at it. The clinic was duly registered with the state ministry of health and we renew our certificate annually.” He said.
Narrating what really transpired between himself and his client, the complainant, Afolabi said it was just a misunderstanding.
“Madam Adelaja was referred to me by someone who knows that I also use herbs to cure health issues. When she came to me in July and told me about her fibroid problem, I explained to her that fibroid comes in stages and assured her that with a sum of one hundred and eighty three naira (N183,000), her problem will be a thing of the past. She paid the money and I started treating her. She had appointment to see me Thursday, 10th but I had to urgently travel to the village on 9th, I believe that she went to the police because she felt I absconded with her money. I came back on Saturday and I was told that police are looking for me at sango station, so on Monday, I went there myself and it was from there the case was transferred to this place.”He explained.
Police operatives had on Monday, November 14, 2016 arrested Julius Adeolu Afolabi for operating an illegal Clinic and Maternity Home in Abule-Iroko area of Ota and for collecting the sum of #183,000 from one Funmi Adelaja to treat her of fibroid and was unable to remove it.
This prompted the said Funmi Adelaja to report the case at Sango Police Station where detectives discovered that the self acclaimed Doctor and Medical Director of Adeolu Afolabi Clinic and Maternity Home has never gone through any formal training that can qualify him to operate such clinic.
The suspect however, has agreed to return the money back to Adelaja while the commissioner of police, Ahmed Iliyasu has ordered a full investigation into the case with the view of charging the culprit to court on conclusion of the investigation.
