Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a state-wide broadcast, Mbah confirmed his long-rumoured defection, describing the decision as a bold step taken in the interest of the state’s development and alignment with the federal government.
“There always comes a time when everyone must make a bold choice to determine their destiny. After deep reflection, we have decided to leave the Peoples Democratic Party and join the All Progressives Congress,” the governor declared.
He explained that the move was aimed at connecting Enugu State more effectively with the central government to accelerate growth and development.
While expressing appreciation to the PDP for years of support, Mbah said the decision was not made lightly but out of a commitment to the state’s progress.
“To the Peoples Democratic Party, which provided the platform on which we campaigned and won, I express my profound gratitude. Leadership often demands difficult decisions in pursuit of higher goals,” he stated.
Governor Mbah praised President Bola Tinubu’s leadership, noting that Enugu State has benefited from federal government support under his administration. He assured residents that his new political alignment would strengthen partnerships and unlock greater opportunities for the state.
The governor’s defection was accompanied by members of the Enugu State House of Assembly, local government chairmen, councillors, and other political appointees, marking a significant shift in the state’s political landscape.
