Niger House member berates govt over refusal to approve 7.5percent CPS

A member of the Niger State House House of Assembly, Hon. Malik Madaki Bosso , has criticised ed state the governor , Alhajii Abubakar Sani Bello over his inability to assent to the 7.5percent Contributory Pension Scheme law, repealed by the state assembly despite it’s suspension over a year ago.
Hon, Madaki. Who is also the Chairman House Committee on Labour and Productivity stated this in an interview with the Nigerian Tribune yesterday in Minna, the state capital.
He however debunked the insinuation in some quarters that the state assembly has compromised the CPS’s bill with a view to pleasing the executive arm of government.
The law maker who expressed fears and disappointment over the development, explained that they were saddled with the responsibility of amending, repealing and enacting laws hence the responsibility of the executive to give its assent for implementation.
He urged the state governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello to break his long silence on the issue by coming out to let the public know the position of government on the matter hence the silence on the part of government can never help issues.
He therefore charged government to as as a matter of necessity assent and pay the beneficiaries their 7.5percent CPS because a vacuum has been created already since April 2015 noted that only those employed from 2007 were excepted, urged the civil servants to be patient and be law abiding as “Justice can only be delayed and can not be denied “.
He. Also likened the assemly to a toothless bulldog saying all the bills sent to the executive were ignored, stressing that the state assembly is working according to the law and constitution assured to do the right thing at the appropriate time within its ambit of the law.
The legislator however expressed concern over high price of commodities including local including locally made goods and services while advising the Federal government to urgently check people involved whom he attributed to the activities of saboteurs in Nigeria.
Madaki further appealed to the National Assembly to pass a law establishing National Price Control Commission in checking market prices to alleviate the sufferings of the people in the country and sustainthe good image of President Muhammadu Buhari.
He also expressed dismay over the way and manner the way some of the state’s security. organisations especially the Police force in the state inflicting injury on motorcyclists in the name of ban of motorcycles at nights by using sticks and other dangerous weapons on defaulters called for caution and appealed to state government to lift the ban as security challenge improved considering the economic situation in the nation.
