Stakeholders of the Igbogene Community in the Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, have called on the Epie kingdom monarch, HRM King Malla Sasime to step in on the matter regarding the situation of Comrade Sasime Dickson, his nephew who was unjustly dismissed from his position as Chief Security Officer (CSO) at the Bayelsa Transport Terminal.
The stakeholders who highlighted Comrade Sasime’s outstanding service, especially his efforts to safeguard the hitherto abandoned terminal for 18 months prior to its operationalization, described him as a committed fellow in the community.
They said his recent ordeal in the hands of security operatives loyal to some figures in Government was disheartening.
National Wire learnt that the Bayelsa State Government recently commenced operationalization of the Igbogene vehicle terminal which was initiated by a former Governor of the State, and now Senator representing Western district of the State, Seriake Dickson.
Speaking with newsmen who have been monitoring activities at the terminal, Comrade Dickson expressed his appreciation for the community’s backing, noting that he was initial made to believe that his own people disliked him, but the overwhelming love and support shown him lately by stakeholders of the community following his ordeal in the hands of security agencies speaks volume.
He identified three key motivations for his commitment to protecting the terminal, including advancing the project’s main goal of increasing the state’s internal revenue generation, preserving a positive image of the community, and creating job opportunities.
National Wire who also spoke with some stakeholders of the community such as Chief Excel Otuka, Elder Hon Alex Onene Benson, Chief Mrs Gilonuwo Napoleon,
Mr Difference Justice, Mr David George and Chief Isaac, Comrades Collins Ephraim and Emeka Sorgwe, reports that they all expressed their strong support for Dickson.
The stakeholders commended Dickson’s leadership prowess and dedication to a y task he was given to execute, calling on the State Governor to heed their request and promptly reinstate Dickson back to his position as Chief Security Officer(CSO) of the terminal.
They said: “Comrade Sasime Dickson has the ability to lead and represent us effectively. He is recognized as a positive influence, not only among the youth, but also towards the elders”.
National Wire further gathered that on February 3, 2025, the Igbogene Community Development Committee(CDC), sent a letter to the terminal management seeking the reinstatement of Dickson, which necessitated the subsequent stakeholders engagement team’s meeting with the Epie Monarch on February 7th, 2025, pleading that he intervene in the matter.
Meanwhile some community stakeholders who preferred anonymity have said they were ready to initiate peaceful protests if the government does not respond to their request of Comrade Dickson Sasime’s reinstatement.
