Acting South-South zonal Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), Barr. George Turnah has said he was not involved in any clandestine meeting in Abuja aimed at undermining the Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri as being speculated in some social media platforms.
Turnah who described the social media posts as completely inaccurate and falsehood said the Bayelsa Governor remains his leader.
He said: “I’m not part of any conspiracy against the Governor of Bayelsa State or his administration. There is neither reason nor justification for such actions. I would never destroy what I have tirelessly worked and laboured to build. Sen. Douye Diri is still my leader and holds my unwavering respect and loyalty.
“The current disagreements within the Bayelsa State Chapter of the PDP are internal matters, and I am confident they will be resolved amicably. I maintain a strong and healthy relationship with the Governor, and I call on those seeking to exploit this situation to refrain from doing so. No one supports the Governor more than I do. Remember, papa and pikin matter no dey hard to resolve”.
Meanwhile, the Acting Party’s Scribe has also said he welcomes the disassociation of the Political Secretary of Ogbia Local Government Area, Hon. Isaac Amakuro from his political family the G-House.
He expressed his support for Amakuro’s decision, while reliving his positive impact on his political career, noting that during his stay with the political family, he facilitated his election as National Secretary of the Niger Delta Youth Movement (NDYM) up to his recent appointment as Political Secretary to the Ogbia Local Government Council.
Turnah added that: “Amakuro is a close brother, and I’ve no regrets whatsoever facilitating opportunities that contributed to his political growth. I want to thank him for his services to the G-House and wish him well in his new political direction.
“I’ll continue to maintain personal relationship with Amakuro outside of politics, and I recognize his right to make decisions as an adult”.
In same vein, the Acting zonal Secretary of the PDP said he has formally withdrawn his previous directive asking his associates within the ‘Prosperity’ administration of Governor Douye Diri, to resign.
He noted further that his earlier request for the George Turnah Football Club to withdraw from the ongoing ‘Prosperity Tournament’ has also been withdrawn, saying he encourage the team to strive for success and possibly win the trophy, while also pledging full financial support to the club throughout the tournament.
Turnah thanked to the Ogbia PDP Ward nine executive committee for their tremendous love, respect, loyalty, and commitment, pledging monthly support allowance, in addition to regular payments from the State Party administration.
He noted: “For clarity, my earlier directives were triggered by the unlawful inauguration of a parallel Ward Executive Committee for Ogbia Ward nine by the State Working Committee, following the refusal of the authentic ward executive committte to suspend me from the Party without justification. Such actions contradict the democratic values that Governor Diri upholds. I doubt that he would endorse such illegality, leading to my decision to withdraw my prior directives”.
