Religion: Bayelsa Tijaniyya Order Marks 2024 Eidel Maulud In Grand Style

Activities commemorating the 2024 Eidel maulud celebrations are far from being over in Bayelsa state as adherents of the Tijaniyya Islamic order have continued to thank the all mighty Allah(God) with glowing tributes for the life a d times of the Holy Prophet Mohammed (S. A. W).

To this end, members of the order and the larger Islamic ummah from within and outside the state convoked at the Samson Siasia Sports Complex, Ovom Yenagoa recently to mark the day set aside in the Islamic calendar as the birth date of the Holy Prophet.

In his interview with newsmen, state Chairman, Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs(SCIA), and member of the state Pilgrims welfare board, Alhaji Yakubu Otobo commended the state Governor, Senator Douye Diri for his peaceful disposition and love for the Islamic ummah in the state.

He said Islam was a peaceful religion, hence Moslem faithfuls in the state have always strive to maintain the peace, tolerance and other virtues exemplified by the time, life and teachings of the Holy Prophet Mohammed (S. A. W).

His words: “I commend members of the Islamic ummah for your patience and resilience. I want you to continue towing the path of peaceful coexistence with other religious groups in the state.The birthday of the Holy Prophet is a time for sober reflections”.

National Wire reports that in the spirit of this year’s birth celebration of the Holy Prophet Mohammed (S. A. W), the Bayelsa state branch of the Tijaniyya order commemorated the event with sermons and strick Islamic ethics.

In his speech, the Bayelsa state Tijaniyya Khalifah, Alhaji Abdul Ganiyy Yunus noted that the celebration was sacrosanct in the lives of adherents of the Tijaniyya order and indeed all moslems the world over.

He advised moslems to always tow the path of peace and maintain the teachings of the Holy Prophet, just as he averred that Islam teaches peace, humility and tolerance.

He said:”I want to thank the state governor, Senator Douye for creating an enabling atmosphere for moslems to practice their belief in the state. This is a pointer to how much the state chief executive loves the Islamic ummah and his religious tolerance”.

In same vein, speaking with newsmen shortly after the event, Assistant Secretary of the the State’s branch of the Tijaniyya order, Alhaji Ali Maiweda restated the need for religious tolerance and harmony amongst religious groups.

He said: “The celebration of the Holy Prophet’s birthday is one of the most cherish ideals of Islam. And what distinguishes real moslems from others is the ability to emulate and observe as well as practice the teachings of the Holy Prophet Mohammed (S. A. W)”.

” We thank the Holy Prophet Mohammed (S.A.W) for giving us the Holy Quran. We thank him for being an exemplary Prophet of Allah the merciful, the most beneficial”.
