Niger State University Of Education To Commence Academic Activities In The 2023/2024 Session

National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved Four faculties and  to offer no fewer than about 41 programmes for the take -off of the Niger State University of Education Minna and posthumously named after late Governor Abdulkadir Abdullahi Kure of Niger state.

Making the disclosure on Thursday in Minna was the Chairman of the University’s implementation Committee, Professor Mohammed Kuta Yahaya at a press briefing held at the Multi- Purpose Hall of the University  in Minna, adding that the faculties to include: Science Education, Arts and Social Science Education as well as Vocational and Technical Education among others .

Professor Kuta Yahaya,a Professor of Agric-Extension department, at the University of Ibadan stated further  that the approval came after resource assessment visit by representatives of the National Universities Commission ( NUC) recently for the proposed academic programmes with a  view to assessing the human and material resources available for it’s establishment and  the approval for immediate take off of the University’s full time mode on the main campus in Minna 

The Chairman further disclosed  that the admission process into the new university would  be through the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board( JAMB)just as  he commended NUC for concluding the  processes with the JAMB to effect the approved faculties on its website for the 2023/2024 academic session with candidates requirements like other conventional  universities in the country.

Prof. Kuta Yahaya noted that the Niger state Governor, Hon.  Mohammed Umaru Bago has proposed a sum of N20 billion in the 2024 budget proposal  for the take off and implementation of the institution in the state.

He however called on Nigerlites and Nigerians  all over the country  to apply for admission in to the brand new  University .

He further applauded Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago for his exemplary  leadership styles,  foresight in education, infrastructure and human development in the realization of a New Niger Agenda, stressing  that  the approval marked the university as the 63rd state university and 217th University systems in Nigeria
