…as nine Killed, 10 Injured In Road Crash In Abuja
…Corps warns drivers against night travels
Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has disassociated itself from rumour making the rounds that its personnel have started carrying arms.

Corps Public Education Officer, said in Abuja on Sunday that personnel of the Commission have not started carrying guns or any other fire arms whether on patrol or any other official duty.
He explained that the information becomes very pertinent following the image of an operative who was captured on camera carrying fire arms in a position that suggests he was on official duty.
“The viral report should be disregarded in totality as it’s just but an old and recirculated image of an overzealous staff who posed with a rifle belonging to a sister agency’s staff in admiration and ignorance in 2018.
The said staff has since been punished according to existing maintainance of discipline of the Corps
The Acting Corps Marshal, Dauda Ali Biu while reacting to the image that is been recirculated has stated that officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps does not currently carry arms and advise members of the public should disregard the image been recirculated.
The public is by this publication called to desist from believing such fake image as the Corps continues in commiting itself to making the roads safer for all to use.
Meanwhile, nine persons have died and 10 others injured in a fatal crash in Yangoji- Abaji road, Federal Capital Territory, (FCT) Abuja.
The Corps Public Education Officer (CPEO) Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Mr Bisi Kazeem confirmed this in a statement on Sunday in Abuja.
According to him, the crash involved a Toyota Hiance Bus with vehicle registration number: KTG-450 KQ and Howo Sino truck along Yangoji-Abaji road about 06:05am on Sunday.
He said that the crash bus was coming from Osun state and was heading to Katsina State, but unfortunately crashed into a stationary Trailer.
This he said was at Sabongari village, near Gadabiyu, along Abaji – Yangoji adding that the FIR has been forwarded by Zebra16 Abaji.
According to him, the crash involved two vehicles and both are for commercial purposes.
“22 people were involved in the crash. They were all male. Ten were Injured and nine were killed. Whole First aid was given to two.
“The FRSC recovered N3,170, six bags and four different mobile phones.
“The rescue was jointly carried out by Zebra 6 Yangoji, Zebra 6, 16 Abaji and the police. However, the Injured victims have been rescued to general hospital Abaji by Zebra16 and police on patrol.
“While the nine corpses were deposited at mortuary general hospital Kwali and the Nigerian Police Force, (NPF) Kwali division has taken over the investigation,” he said.
Kazeem quoted the Acting Corps Marshal, FRSC, Dauda Biu as saying that the crashes resulted from dangerous overtaking and eventual loss of control.
The Acting Corps Marshal stressed that crashes at night were more fatal than others in day time.
He reiterated that the corps would continue to double its efforts by constantly engaging the motoring public nationwide, through aggressive awareness and sensitisation campaign, until the desired result was achieved.
Biu advised vehicle owners to ensure that their vehicles were in order before they put them on the road, to avoid road crashes, especially at night.
