Niger Govt Urges Citizens To Embrace Child Spacing

Niger state government has enjoined the people of the state especially couples to embrace child spacing in order to live a better life and ensure good health for their families in the overall interest and development of the state.The state Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Alhaji Muhammad Sani Idris gave the advice at a 3-Day Training of Media Personal on Media Advocacy for Family Planning by TCI/The Challenge Initiative,  holden at the Brighter Suite in Minna the state capital.

He reiterated the determination of the state government in supporting Family Planning related issues to bring to an appreciable level,  the maternal and infant mortality rates in the state in particular and the country at large, while charging the participants to pay much attention to every aspect of the training.

Earlier in his presentation, the Facilitator, Mr. Onoche Odeh spoke on the need for child spacing and family planning for better healthcare and education for all.

He noted that Nigeria was witnessing population explosion with high rate of population leading to the current insecurity challenges bedeviling the country,  while blaming governments and citizens for not playing their parts well in providing the necessities of life to the society.

He further challenged the media to be up doing in passing out accurate information as well as enlightened the general populace on the benefits,  methods, where to get the services, dispel the misconception about religious and cultural beliefs including rumors of accepting family planning,  aimed at ensuring developmental journalism.
