Seafood items worth over $51m are reported to have been imported from Norway.
The revelation was made by
Norwegian Ambassador to Nigeria, Jens-Petter Kjemprud during the Norwegian Seafood Festival in Lagos recently.
The Ambassador who put the figure trade in seafoods between Nigeria and his country at $51.647 million also said Nigeria’s massive import from Norway was the largest from Africa.
He, however, stated the Nordic country’s readiness to partner with Nigeria to develop the entire seafood value chain.
Kjemprud emphasised the need to deepen bilateral and trade ties between the two countries which would open more opportunities.
According to him, there is huge potential for increasing the trade receipt between Norway and Nigeria which currently stands at $30 billion.
The Ambassador said Norway was considering increasing investments in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.
According to him, there is a lot for both countries to benefit from each other as trade allies with long history of engagement.
