Former Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, while responding to questions from newsmen in Lagos yesterday, disclosed that he is convinced that good governance in Nigeria is possible and that Atiku Abubakar remains one individual in Nigeria that is resolute on bringing about a true rebirth for the nation.
“This time is an auspicious era in the history of our nation, at any point in time, God creates a set of individuals who will change the tide of events in a nation’s history. All media practitioners must stand up this time around in defence of your nation,” he said
He stated further that all hands, including journalists, must be on deck to salvage Nigeria from degenerating fully into a banana republic
“I do not believe you as journalists can afford to be neutral at this juncture. All the indices needed to use to measure the well-being of all nations have proven that Nigeria is retrogressing today. Hence, there is need for all well meaning patriots of our nation rise up to task of putting Nigeria back to a path of progress,” he pointed out.
Speaking about the chances of Atiku Abubarkar, Otunba Daniel said Nigeria is a very complex country and what the nation needs is a system that works.
“ A system works give less regard to persons in office. Nigerians must vote for a candidate who understands the new world economy. Gone are the days government put money here and there; just put in place necessary structures and investors will bring their money.
“Those who buy the oil we depend on so much are looking at other sources. So we must support someone who will create an environment for venture capitalists.
“He is not a fundamentalist but a man who accommodates and respects everyone’s religious views and leanings. We need somebody who is widely exposed, versatile and understands the country.
“Quite a number of people want to be president but don’t even know their state well, let alone having the grasp of the problems of Nigeria. Of all those in the race, Atiku is above everyone.
“We were in Adamawa, Delta, Taraba and Bayelsa, among other states and we know what we heard. Also remember that earlier in the month, PDP and about 38 parties came together. The alliance is the first of the kind in the country so 2019 will be decisive” he stated further.
The Director General of the Abubakar Atiku Campaign Organisation concluded that the Waziri Adamawa remained well placed to win the presidential ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party.
