The Forum of Imams, Niger State chapter, has commended the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Kpotun-Idris for boidly reducing crime and criminality in the Nigeria.
Speaking during a courtesy call on the IGP in his office on Wednesday, the Chairman of the forum, Ustaz Ibrahim Isah who also doubled as the chief Imam of Minna Central Mosque said that it had noted the significant reduction of crimes across the nation.
According to him, “since your appointment as the Inspector General of Police, we have observed that there is drastic reduction in the activities of the criminals in the recent times”.
He stressed that the enviable efforts of Kpotun- Idris as, ”a dogged,, patriotic and committed crime buster, saying, “we lauds your achievements so far so good in tackling various security challenges confronting the nation’ praying that very soon, normalcy would return to the country through the IGP”s dedication to duty and unbiased Operational strategies nationwide.
“We wish to commend the Nigeria Police Force under your watch for the dedication, commitment and complementary role to the civil authority at the centre in the fight against electoral fraud, insurgency, kidnapping, terrorism, cattle rustling, communal clashes as well as our silent enemy which is corrupting and indiscipline”, he said
” While commending you for the onerous task before you, we are urging you and your Management team at the Force Headquarters, Abuja to continue to remain resolute and firm in the discharge of your arduous duties.”
The Clerics however noted that, the maintenance of peace and orderliness in the society is never an essay task in anywhere in the world ,while praying that Almighty Allah will give the IGP, the sound health, wisdom and knowledge to ensure that law abiding Nigerians may go about their lawful businesses peacefully without being molested by any means.
The group further commended President Muhamnadu Buhari, for reposing tremendous confidence in the IGP, and enjoined him to do more in tackling the menace of robbery, kidnapping and cattle rustling , rapes of the minors among other vices.
The clerics also vowed to sustain their prayers for President Buhari, the Federal Government the IGP and members of the Nigerian Armed Forces in particular, reiterating that Nigerlites will continue to be law abiding, respectful, conduct themselves in a peaceful manner and be as hospitable as ever to other Nigerians irrespective of their tribes and religious background through moral and spiritual commitment in peaceful preaching and teachings.
Ustaz Isah noted that the appointment of the IGP Ibrahim Kpotun Idris was greatly cherished and appreciated by all sundry in Niger State.
According to the forum, “we are indeed very grateful to President Buhari for finding you worthy of the appointment and urged that the IGP should use the position to promote security of lives and property of the citizenry, peaceful coexistence among Nigerians and the unity of the nation, as well as enhanced security that would allow Nigerians to sleep with their two eyes closed”.
Meanwhile, in his response, IGP Ibrahim Kpotun-Idris thanked the forum for the visit and assured them that he would live above board, and will as well ensure adequate protection of lives of properties of Nigerians across the country.
The police Boss also promised that he would give priority attention to to community policing with the view to provide adequate security to Nigerians.
Kpotun-Idris however appealed to adherents of the major religions in the country to pray fervent for President Buhari and God to assist security agents to overcome some of the security challenges bedeviling the nation.
