Western Naval Command Organises Farewell Parade For Rear Admiral Oamen

…hands over To Rear Admiral Mustapha as new FOC, West

 

The Western Naval Command (NWC), today, Wednesday, 5th November, 2025, witnessed a new change of command as the outgoing Flag Officer Commanding (FOC), Rear Admiral Mike Gregory Oamen handed over to Rear Admiral Abubakar Mustapha, as the new FOC.

The signing and taking over and presentation of the Command insignia was held at the Conference Room of NWC while the Farewell Parade in the honour of the outgone FOC was at the NNS Beecroft parade ground, Apapa.

In his valedictory remarks, Rear Admiral Oamen expressed gratitude to God for His grace and guidance throughout his tenure. He appreciated the officers, ratings, and civilian staff of the Command for their loyalty and support, urging them to extend the same commitment to his successor.

In his inaugural address, Rear Admiral Mustapha outlined his vision for a technology-driven Command focused on detecting, deterring, disrupting, and denying criminal activities within the maritime domain.

He thanked the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to sustain and build on the legacies of his predecessor.

The event culminated in a colourful Farewell Parade and Pulling Out Ceremony at the NNS BEECROFT Parade Ground, attended by senior military officers, dignitaries, and retired personnel.
