Chief Imam of the Lagos State University, Professor Amidu Olalekan Sanni has described the claim by Turkish government that members of a terrorist group known as the Fethullah Terrorist Organisation exist in Nigeria as propaganda.
He advised the Turkish government to desist from spreading falsehood and state-sponsored propaganda of calumny.
Sanni in a press statement stated:”This is a false propaganda by agents of corruption and tyranny headed by President of Turkey Tayep Erdogan. FETO has demonstrated an enviable commitment to a global initiative of eradicating ignorance, disease, interreligious disharmony and to the provision of a sustainable individual and community empowerment all over the world regardless of political, ethnic, and religious affiliations.
“The activities of the organization are open, verifiable, and impactful. The Turkish government is hereby advised to stop this campaign of falsehood and state-sponsored propaganda of calumny.
“The LASU Muslim community hereby appeal to all lovers of truth and development not to be part of the evil mill being propelled by workers of darkness and corruption against which Islam has fought since inception.”
Recall Turkish Ambassador-designate to Nigeria, Mehmet Poroy, also claimed the terrorist group uses schools and health services as a cover for its operations in the country.
Meanwhile, Coordinator of the National Counter-Terrorism Centre, Maj Gen Adamu Laka, reportedly said there was no new terrorist group in Nigeria and there was no need to panic.
