Trade union congress, TUC Bayelsa state chapter Wednesday elected new executives to manage the affairs of the union.
Applauding members of the union for their support and synergy formed during his tenure, outgoing chairman, comrade Tari Dounana said the union under his leadership achieved much in terms of members welfare and cooperation amongst the different affiliates of the union.
The workers union whose executive officers were elected at the triennial delegates conference held in Yenagoa the state capital saw comrade Julius Laye emerging as its new chairman while Adokeme Perelade clinched the office of the vice chairman.
Others elected were comrade Bright Amatoro, secretary, Abah Dressman, assistant secretary and Ogbobtobo Roland as financial secretary while the duo of Alagoa Anderson and Ogbe Temple won as treasurer and auditor respectively.
Declaring the result on behalf of the chairman of the electoral committee, the secretary Emmanuel Thomas said following an in-house resolution, the union through harmonization allocated executive positions to all the affiliate bodies of the union, stressing that as a result contestant of the different positions in the union were returned unopposed.
The election were closely supervised and monitored by the National Assistant Secretary of the TUC, comrade Ebaho Anthony.
Swearing in the executives Anthony charged them to live above boards, cautioning against anti-labour acts, saying the union in Nigeria over the years has been in the fore front of making welfare of workers meaningful.
The national assistant scribe urged members of the union to cooperate with the executives to move the union to enviable heights just as he said with capable hands as new exco, better days are here for the Bayelsa state chapter
In an interview with newsmen shortly after the election, the new chairman, Julius Laye promised an all-inclusive leadership, emphasizing that he would make welfare of members a priority just as he commended members for electing him and his exco to pilot the affairs of the union for the next three years.
Speaking against the back drop of public servants who covertly and overtly involve in politics, Laye said soon the laws regulating public service would catch up with such people, pledging to consolidate on the gains of his predecessor.
